Art Director

Dean Gordon is an art director at Sony Pictures Animation.

He most recently art directed the studio’s latest theatrical release, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” as well as the first film in the trilogy, the 2018 Academy Award®-winning feature “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

Alongside production designer Patrick O’Keefe, the duo was recognized for their work on “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” with an Annie Award from ASIFA-Hollywood for Outstanding Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production, and an Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design for an Animated Film.

Gordon joined Sony Pictures Animation in 2007, and has since served as a visual development artist on the studio's two “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” films and the Aardman co-production “Arthur Christmas," as well as art director on “Smurfs: The Lost Village.”

Gordon worked for 16 years at the Walt Disney Animation Studios as an art director (Fantasia / 2000's "Pines of Rome" segment) and background supervisor artist on many features including “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Gordon started his career in television as a background color stylist and background artist on series such as “A.L.F.,” “BraveStarr,” “She-Ra: Princess of Power” and “Ghostbusters.”

Gordon graduated from the Art Center College of Design.
