
Angela Sung
Art Director
Angela Sung is an art director at Sony Pictures Animation, currently working on an unannounced feature film.
She joined Sony Pictures Animation in 2023 as a visual development artist, and most recently worked on the studio’s upcoming feature film, "KPop Demon Hunters," set to release on Netflix in 2025. Previously, Sung worked at DreamWorks Animation as a visual development artist on “The Bad Guys” feature film, and served as the art director for the Emmy-nominated animated series "Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts."
With over 13 years in animation, Sung has collaborated with other major studios, including Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Blur Studio, Netflix Animation, Nickelodeon Animation Studio. As a background designer on “The Legend of Korra” at Nickelodeon, her work contributed to the show's Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production in 2014.
Outside of her studio work, Sung is a dedicated art instructor, teaching background design, visual development, traditional and digital painting through both online courses and in-person workshops. Her in-person teachings have reached students across the US, Australia, France, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Mexico, and beyond. In 2016, Sung co-founded Warrior Painters, a global artist community passionate about plein-air painting and entertainment art. In 2021, she co-founded Warrior Art Camp, an initiative focused on art education.
Sung studied at ArtCenter College of Design but left in 2011 to pursue her first art job in the video game industry.
